Chidanandmurthy in favour of bill to curb conversion

Bangalore, Feb 2 (PTI) In the backdrop of the JusticeSomashekhar Commission Report, noted Kannada writer MChidanandmurthy today called for introduction of a bill tocurb "religious conversion by fundamentalists" during thecoming session of the state legislature.

Opposing conversions that took place by offering monetaryinducements, he alleged that it was often vulnerable sectionsof people that had been targetted.

He cited the examples of states like Gujarat, Orissa andMadhya Pradesh where such a bill had been introduced and urgedthe state government to follow suit
